In recent days, the Argentine newspaper Clarin published the article “The future has arrived, vertical cities that copy nature”, describing some of the present and future projects related to urban planning and biomimicry. The author María Teresa Morresi highlights the effort of modern architects to develop architectural projects taking into account climate change, the conscious use of resources and nature as a guide.
This is how she describes the work carried out by the Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut, who “projects cities and fused spaces inspired by nature”. Examples of his work are the Hyperion eco-neighborhood in India inspired by Californian trees and the design of efficient villas in China that make up a project called “Flavours Orhard”. Projects by other architects are also mentioned, such as the joint construction of the Chinese and Singaporean governments of the Tianjijn Eco-city for 350,000 inhabitants and the planning of Woven City in Japan, which will combine the design through biomimicry with other practices such as the implementation of artificial intelligence and the use of hydrogen for energy production.
