FORMS

“The shape of the owl’s wing, the structure of the shark’s skin and the strong and flexible kelps show us incredible solutions to solve design problems”

What forms can be emulated?

The capability of emanating heat through blood vessels in the long ears of rabbits is used to regulate temperature efficiently and without indiscriminate use of metals. At low temperatures, small vessels expand and hot blood coming from the bulk body increases the flow into the ears. Thus, heat is transferred to the environment, maintaining internal temperature and regulating overheating.

This nature’s form could be implemented in devices where heat exchange is necessary, from fins that cool microprocessors to cooling towers in large industrial plants.
